COIMBATORE, FEB. 6. The Coimbatore District Co-operative Milk Producers Union (CDCMPU - Aavin) has hiked the procurement price of milk, a release from the Chairman of CDCMPU (Aavin) and the District Collector, N. Muruganandam, said today.

The procurement price for cow milk is determined on the basis of 13 per cent solid content in the milk ie 4.5 per cent fat and 8.5 per cent Solid Non Fat (SNF).

The procurement price of one litre of milk with total solids of 13 per cent (under the double access pricing system) had been hiked from Rs. 73.08 per litre to Rs. 75.08.

The procurement price of one litre of butter fat buffalo milk (under the single access pricing system) has been hiked from Rs. 169.85 to Rs. 190 per litre. In actual terms, for a dairy farmer the increase in procurement price for cow milk has been 0.24 paise per litre while Rs 1.20 was the hike for the buffalo milk per litre.

The Managing Director of CDCMPU - Coimbatore Aavin, A. Subramaniam, said the hike in procurement price would help over 20,000 dairy farmers.
