`Investment potential vast in Rajasthan'

By Our Staff Correspondent

JAIPUR, FEB. 7. The Rajasthan Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje, has underlined the need for generating an atmosphere conducive to promoting capital investment to boost the industrial sector. She said the investment potential was vast in the State and more facilities should be provided to the entrepreneurs.

Addressing the officials of the Industries Department during a presentation made by the Bureau of Investment Promotion (BIP) here over the weekend, Ms. Raje said all incentives would be provided to attract investors to the State. She reviewed the present status of industrial facilities extended to entrepreneurs.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to undertake an intensive study for the formulation of an appropriate policy for attracting the prospective investors. She said the projects should be broadly sanctioned at the earliest, preferably within two months of their submission.

Ms. Raje also stressed the need to strengthen the single window scheme for clearance of projects and to bring about "stability'' in the industries-related policies.

"In addition to attracting new investors, the existing investments too should be monitored effectively,'' Ms. Raje said and called for adoption of the appropriate audit system to deal with the problem of industrial sickness in the large and medium scale industrial units.

The audit system should suggest measures to overcome sickness besides identifying the factors responsible for it.
