LPG dealership fraud case: absconders nabbed

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, FEB. 7. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the husband-wife duo — Vinod Kumar Mishra and Radha Mishra — who had allegedly cheated public to the tune of Rs.12 crores. They were nabbed when they landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport from Australia.

The CBI had filed a combined chargesheet in a Lucknow court against 28 accused persons, including Vinod Kumar Mishra and Radha Mishra on the allegation that accused persons who were functionaries of M/s S.B. Petroleum and its sister companies collected Rs.12 crores from various persons on the pretext of allotting them dealership or domestic LPG connection.

As per public advertisement initiated by them, they failed to fulfil their promise and did not return the money deposited by various persons on demand and cheated them.

The case was earlier registered by the U.P. Police and later transferred to the CBI. During trial the court had declared Vinod Kumar Mishra and Radha Mishra proclaimed absconders as they had jumped bail and failed to appear before it.

They had been remanded to judicial custody till February 10.
