Marion Jones
NEW YORK, FEB. 7. Marion Jones made a triumphant return to the track on Friday, winning the Millrose Games 60m in 7.21sec in her first race since devoting the 2003 season to motherhood. The 28-year-old wasn't the quickest out of the blocks, but accelerated past her rivals to finish three-hundredths of a second ahead of fellow American Angela Daigle. Jones, winner of five Olympic medals in Sydney in 2000, was watched by 14,000 spectators at Madison Square Garden, including her fellow sprinter Tim Montgomery, father of the son born to Jones in June. Though Jones was the story of the night, Allen Johnson was selected as the meet's Most Outstanding Performer after setting a new Millrose record in the 60 hurdles. Johnson won in 7.43, breaking Terrence Trammell's mark of 7.47 set in 2001.
