HYDERABAD, FEB. 7. A team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday caught a technical assistant and lineman of Vontimitta Telephone Exchange in Cuddapah district, while they were allegedly accepting Rs. 1,500 to activate a telephone connection and to allot the number for an STD booth. In another incident, the ACB officials arrested a constable working in the Chandurthy police station in Karimnagar district, M. Veera Reddy, when he accepted Rs. 1,500 from a complainant on the premises of the Munsiff Court at Sircilla for doing an official favour. He tested positive in a chemical test and the tainted amount was recovered from him. In yet another case, a Superintendent in the office of the District Medical and Health Officer in Kurnool, V. Andraiah was arrested as he was accepting Rs.1,500 from a Junior Assistant in the same office for processing her application for an increment.
