HYDERABAD, FEB. 7. The Civil Supplies Commissioner, Bhanwarlal, on Saturday announced as "sanctioned" as many as 729 "consumer clubs" at the school level to be formed shortly with students led by "an active teacher" in each school and with a representative from the department. This is under the Centre- sponsored Jagriti Shivir Yojana. Mr Bhanwarlal made the announcement to reporters at the end of a state-level conference of consumer activists and organisations at Jubilee Hall at which they came out with several suggestions. Many of these suggestions were incorporated in the policy being framed for the "consumer clubs". The Commissioner said, each club would be given Rs 10,000 for undertaking awareness programmes out of Rs 7.7 crores given to the State under the Central scheme. The State would form 1,250 clubs under the scheme, he said. The department's director, Shalini Mishra, oversaw the proceedings of the conference.
