NEW DELHI, FEB. 7. The Left Front in West Bengal has declared its candidates for the all but one of the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in the State, with the front deciding to re-nominate 24 of the 30 members of the dissolved Lok Sabha. The Communist Party of India (Marxist), which is leading the Left Front in the State, has allocated seats to five women, two more than those fielded in 1999. It includes the Asian Game double gold medallist middle-distance runner, Jyotirmoyee Sikdar, from Krishnanagar, a constituency held by the Union Minister, Satyabrata Mookherjee, according to the list of candidates available here. Besides Ms. Sikdar, three women are among the 13 new faces the CPI(M) has given ticket. In Bishnupur reserved, the party has replaced Sandhya Bauri, who held the seat in the 13th Lok Sabha, with her daughter, Susmita Bauri while Mani Thapa will be the new face in Darjeeling in place of S.P. Lepcha. Minati Ghosh, a former MLA would contest from Raiganj, held by the Congress leader, Priyaranjan Dasmunshi. The CPI(M) has decided to field the State Minister, Mohammed Salim, from Kolkata North-east, a constituency represented by the former Union Minister, Ajit Kumar Panja, while the CPI(M) chief whip in the State legislature, Rabin Deb, would take on the Trinamool chief, Mamata Banerjee, in her Kolkata South bastion.
