KOCHI, FEB. 7 . The Indian Federal Democratic Party (IFDP) will continue with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) during the coming Lok Sabha polls, said the Union Minister of State for Law, P.C. Thomas.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said that the IFDP would field its candidate from the Muvattupuzha Lok Sabha constituency, which was represented by him now.

Mr. Thomas said that the Department of Surface Transport, New Delhi, had given approval for beginning the work on the Thiruvankulam-Thripunithura bypass of the National Highway-49, connecting Kochi and Madurai. Administrative sanction had been given for the construction work.

The Thiruvankulam-Thripunithura bypass would be one of the three bypasses to the Kochi-Madurai highway. The nine-km-long bypass section starting from Mattakkuzhi, near Thiruvankulam, would continue till Kundannur. A sum of Rs. 657 lakhs for beginning the land acquisition for the initial 3.5 km of the road has been allotted in the first stage, said Mr. Thomas.
