Govt. clarification on unauthorised colonies

NEW DELHI, FEB. 7 . Amid conflicting media reports, the Government today ``clarified'' the guidelines issued for regularisation of unauthorised colonies in Delhi would cover habitations that have come up till March 2002 both on private and public land except the Sainik Farms, which is a matter of ``separate consideration''.

``The guidelines shall be applicable to colonies on both private and public land. Only such colonies where more than 50 per cent of the area has been built up would be considered for regularisation,'' the Urban Development Ministry said here.

The new guidelines are a modification of those issued in February 2001 but the criteria for regularisation remains the same, the Ministry said in a press release.

The earlier guidelines covered colonies that have come up on both private and public land, ``except the Sainik Farms, which is a matter of separate consideration,'' it said.

As per the guidelines, for unauthorised colonies that have come up on undeveloped public land, cost of land would be recovered on the basis of prevailing cost of acquisition of agricultural land plus penalty of 10 per cent of land rate on plot size up to 100 sq mtrs and 50 per cent of the land rate on plots size of 101 sq mtrs and above.

For unauthorised colonies that have come up on developed land, cost of land would be recovered on the basis of notified land rates of DDA plus penalty of 10 per cent of land rate on plot size up to 100 sq mtrs and 50 per cent of the land rate on plot size of 101 sq mtrs and above, it said.

For colonies on private land, there will be no recovery of land cost, PTI
