Raw deal to Medaram pilgrims: TRS leader

By Our Staff Reporter

KARIMNAGAR, FEB. 7. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi State secretary, P Ramesh, has alleged that the State Government has failed to provide adequate facilities to pilgrims, who had thronged the Medaram Samakka-Saramma jatara in Warangal district and mini-jataras in Karimnagar district. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the TRS State secretary alleged that the State Government was responsible for the stampede at the Medaram jatara. He said that the Government had earned several crores of rupees through the four-day Medaram jatara, but failed to provide adequate facilities to pilgrims. Alleging disparities in the conduct of Medaram state festival, he charged that the TDP Government was more concerned about the Godavari pushkarams and the coming Krishna pushkarams.

He called upon the TDP Ministers of the region to realise the "disparities" being shown by the Government towards the Telangana region in the conduct of festivals and development of the region.

With regard to collection of power bills from farmers of the region, Mr Ramesh alleged that the Government had registered about 1.39 lakh cases against farmers who had not paid power bills including 13,340 cases in Karimnagar district.
