NEW DELHI, FEB. 7. India and China today agreed in principle to use the media and the entertainment industry for improving ties between the two neighbours. A consensus was reached on signing a co-production agreement in the near future, during a meeting between the Chinese Minister of State Administration on Radio, Films and Television, Xu Guangchun, and the Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Ravi Shankar Prasad, here. Later briefing the media, the two Ministers said they had also agreed to explore the possibility of journalist-to-journalist contact between the two countries. This apart, the two also agreed in principle to play host to film festivals of either country, and show the other country's documentary and cartoon films on their national television channels. Given China's long censorship process which is said to take several months the Chinese Minister told mediapersons that efforts would be made to expedite it. He also invited Indian businessmen to build theatres in China. Further, he invited Mr. Prasad to visit China and indicated that the formal agreement on the consensus reached at today's meeting would be signed on that occasion.
