Evening showers likely

Bangalore experienced a maximum temperature of 29.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 21.1 degrees Celsius on Saturday. There were traces of rainfall and the relative humidity was 50 per cent.

At the airport, the maximum temperature was 30.7 degrees Celsius and the minimum 19 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity was 44 per cent.

The forecast during the next 24 hours is that the sky will be partly cloudy. Rain and thundershowers are likely towards evening or at night. The minimum temperature will be around 20 degrees Celsius.

Power shutdown

There will no power supply between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday in some parts of the city due to emergency maintenance work at the Jayanagar Subdivision RMU.

The areas to be affected are Jayanagar 2nd block and Mohamadan block, according to a press release from Bangalore Electricity Supply Company.

`Sarige adalat' tomorrow

The Bangalore South Regional Transport Office is conducting a `Sarige adalat' on Monday. People having grievances related to the Transport Department can present them before the Transport officials. The programme will be held at 3 p.m. on the third floor of the office building.

Science quiz

The Tata Memorial Club is conducting the 16th Tata Memorial Science quiz competition on March 3. The competition for high school and college students is aimed at nurturing scientific talent among them. Each city school can send a maximum of four teams comprising two students each. The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers is conducting short-term courses in embedded Systems, VX works, software engineering, and digital signal processing from Sunday. Essay contest

The Media Alumni Association of Mangalagangothri is conducting a State-level Kannada essay competition for graduate and postgraduate students.

The topic for the competition is "President Kalam's Vision 2020 - Possibilities and Challenges". Three entries are allowed from each college. The legibly written or typed essays not exceeding 2,000 words should reach the president of the association, 702, North Block, Manipal Centre, 47 Dickenson Road, Bangalore - 47 on or before February 29. The best essays will be given cash prizes.
