NEW DELHI, FEB. 8. Anil Baijal today took over as the new Union Home Secretary. He succeeds N. Gopalaswami, who has now become an Election Commissioner. An IAS officer of the 1969 batch, Mr. Baijal was till now Vice-Chairman of the Delhi Development Authority. During his over three-decade long career, he had held several important posts in various Ministries and public sector undertakings. He was also the Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Airlines, CEO of Prasar Bharati and Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar. During his stint in the DDA, he had paid special attention to bring in a change in the work culture, introducing transparency and ensuring quick delivery of quality services to the citizens of the capital.
