HYDERABAD, FEB. 8. The Telugu Desam Party has criticised the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for hankering after an electoral alliance with the Congress though the latter had not met its condition of passing a resolution supporting a separate Telangana. Addressing a press conference here today, two Ministers, Kadiam Srihari and N. Janardhan Reddy, said the TRS chief, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, had sent his party leader, A. Narendra, to New Delhi to persuade Congress leader, Pranab Mukherjee, to concede 51 Assembly and seven Lok Sabha seats to the party. The Congress was willing to part only with 42 Assembly and five Lok Sabha constituencies. The TDP leaders said this revealed the TRS's anxiety to forge an alliance in advance of the February 11 deadline it had set for other parties to come forward with their proposals on Telangana. It also showed the dichotomy in the party since Mr. Narendra had opposed any truck with the Congress and the Majlis and threatened to oppose the TRS chief if he went ahead with his plans. The Ministers wanted Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao to explain how he could join hands with the Congress, a party he had earlier described as `enemy number one' for the people of Telangana.
