Kollam
By Our Staff Reporter
KOLLAM, FEB. 10. A leadership meeting of the RSP(B) today reiterated the demand that the Kollam ticket for the coming Lok Sabha election should be allocated to the party. Inaugurating the meeting, Prof. Thamarakshan said that the party's claim over the Kollam ticket was by all means a justified demand. He called upon the UDF to recognise the demand. He said that his party had been contesting from the seat since the 1950s. During the last Lok Sabha election, the party had played a crucial role in helping the LDF candidates win from the four constituencies of Kollam, Kottayam, Idukki and Chirayinkeezhu. For the coming Lok Sabha elections, the party was in a position to help the UDF turn victorious in the four constituencies, However, the Kollam ticket should be given to the RSP(B), he said. He said that it was the political agenda of the RSP(B) in 1999 that was now being recognised by the Congress, the CPI(M) and the CPI. That agenda had called for the unity of secular democratic forces to defeat the communal alliance led by the BJP.
