Thangal Uppappa Urs from today

MANGALORE, FEB. 10. The 42nd death anniversary (Urs) of Mohammed Haneef Valiyullahi Thangal Uppappa will be held at Muhiyudeen Juma Masjid, Nellikkunnu, Kasargod from Wednesday.

Thangal Uppappa, a saint, who had devotees in Dakshina Kannada, Kasargod and Kodagu, died on September 6, 1962.

The General Secretary of the Thangal Uppappa Urs Committee, N.A. Nellikkunnu, told presspersons here on Tuesday that the Mudaris of Nellikkunnu, Shaikhuna Abu Junaid P.A. Abdul Rahiman Bhaqavi would hoist the flag on Wednesday.

T.K.M. Bava Musliyar of United Jamaath Khazi, Kasargod, would inaugurate a religious discourse in the evening.

He said an estimated 10 lakh people were expected to attend the event, which would conclude on February 21.

The Urs Committee would serve food to devotees on February 22, he added.

The President of the Urs Committee, Poona Abdul Rahiman, and the General Secretary, Muhiyuddeen Juma Masjid Committee, B.M. Abdul Raheem, were present.
