Two Mysore elephants will be sent to Canada shortly, as gifts from the Prime Minister of India, it is learnt. The Government of Andamans have purchased ten elephants and fifteen more are to be purchased by them and so a batch of 25 elephants, captured during the khedda operations held in December last year, will go to Andamans for the hauling of timber. At the khedda operations held on December 28 in the Kakankote forests, 48 miles from Mysore city, a herd of 68 wild elephants was captured. This khedda operation was acclaimed as the most successful.
