Jayalalithaa inaugurates development schemes for Vellore

VELLORE, FEB. 11. The Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, launched 2,392 development schemes and inaugurated new buildings in Vellore district at a cost of Rs.16.92 crores and laid foundation for 729 new schemes and buildings at a function got up in Chennai on Wednesday.

According to a release from the District Collector, A.C. Mohandoss, they included the Indira Awas Yojana, benefiting 1,456 persons at a cost of Rs.465.92 lakhs; the Prime Minister's Rural Housing Scheme benefiting 96 persons (Rs.30.72 lakhs); 795 development schemes under the Sampoorna Gramin Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) (Rs.353.53 lakhs); 20 works under the MLAs' Constituency Development Fund (Rs. 30.60 lakhs); four highways department road works under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Rs. 88.90 lakhs); two college students' hostels through the Department of Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare (Rs.63 lakhs); drinking water supply improvement scheme for Odugathur town panchayat (Rs.88 lakhs); five buildings of the welfare department through the PWD (Rs.241.75 lakhs); 10 works including hostels, schools buildings, science laboratories under the Adi Dravida Welfare Department (Rs.282 lakhs) and the Arakkonam MLA's office building, development works for the construction of building of Fast Track Court in the Integrated Courts Complex in Vellore and construction of buildings for fire stations in Gudiyatham and Tirupattur taluks (Rs.47.55 lakhs).

The schemes for which the Chief Minister laid the foundation included 225 works under the Integrated Women's Sanitary Complex Scheme (Rs.505.25 lakhs); PM's Rural Housing Scheme for 30 beneficiaries (Rs.9.60 lakhs); 38 works under SGRY (Rs.54.58 lakhs); buildings for 108 self-help groups under SGRY; seven works under rural self-sufficiency scheme (Rs.21.09 lakhs); 173 works under MLAs' Constituency Development Fund (Rs.337.43 lakhs); 37works under MPs' Local Area Development Scheme (Rs.108.34 lakhs); 93 works for construction of buildings for the offices of the village administrative officers (Rs.65.10 lakhs); two Central Roads Scheme 2003-2004 of the highways department (Rs.135 lakhs); primary health centre building (Rs.37 lakhs); two buildings for veterinary dispensaries (Rs.13 lakhs); 5 Adi Dravidar students hostels (Rs.157.50 lakhs); 110/33-11 KVA electricity sub-station at Arcot (Rs.752.03 lakhs) and seven govt. buildings through the Construction and Maintenance Dept. of the PWD (Rs.89.01 lakhs).
