'Ensure free and fair polls in West Bengal'

NEW DELHI, FEB. 11. Describing the whole of West Bengal as "sensitive," the Trinamool Congress today asked the Election Commission to ensure free and fair polls in the State.

Swamy's plea

The Janata Party president, Subramanian Swamy, today made a plea to the Election Commission to ensure that Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) were not included in the electoral rolls.Dr. Swamy, who met the Chief Election Commissioner, T.S. Krishnamurthy, later told reporters that he cited the case of the former AIADMK MP, T.T.V. Dinakaran, who became a member of the 13th Lok Sabha despite being a "permanent resident" of Singapore.
