By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, FEB. 11. Pending the seat sharing arrangement with the Congress, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has completed a detailed scrutiny of the applications received in about 50 of the 107 Assembly constituencies in Telangana and the party is expected to release the first list of about 15 candidates by the end of February third week.

According to TRS sources, the party's Election Committee will meet in the next three or four days to finalise the nominees for the first list.

As many as 50 teams have been entrusted with the task of visiting the constituencies and assess the chances of various applicants.

The teams have completed the task in the north Telangana districts of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Warangal, besides Medak.

They are expected to finish the exercise in Khammam, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad in the coming few days.

The TRS has sold 1,050 applications and received 781 applications for 107 Assembly seats and 71 for 16 Lok Sabha constituencies. As many as 157 applications have been received from SC aspirants, 72 from STs, 68 from women and 16 from minorities.

Interestingly, it has received two applications from Kuppam, the constituency represented by the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu. One of the applicants is a journalist, V. Sridhar Babu, while the other is S. Narsing Rao, secretary of the TRS youth wing.

Meanwhile, the TRS leaders have condemned the lathi charge on its activists, including women, at Chinthamadaka in Medak district yesterday.

In a statement, its Mahila wing president, Bandru Shobha Rani, and others have said that it is unfortunate that Civil Supplies Minister, Muthyam Reddy, was involved in it and demanded action against him and the police officials.
