MYSORE, FEB. 11. Even as the President of Mysore Rural District Congress Committee, H. Subbaiah, expressed regrets over giving Rs. 500 in cash to journalists covering a press conference convened by the party on Monday, the Mysore District Journalists' Association (MDJA) adopted a resolution condemning the attempt to "influence" journalists. The executive committee of the association, which met here on Wednesday, took a decision to stage a demonstration near the statue of Mahathma Gandhi in front of Law Courts at 10.30 a.m. on Thursday. After discussing the situation arising out of the "bribery" episode, the association resolved to call upon everyone to put an end to the vulgar practice of offering gift to journalists. The association also resolved to ban giving of gifts to journalists at press conferences held at the association premises. Rajashekar Koti, association president and Editor of Andolana, presided over the meeting. K.B. Ganapathy, association vice-president and Editor of Star of Mysore, was present.
