THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB.11. The Nair Service Society stayed away from K. Muraleedharan's swearing-in ceremony, citing differences with him on several issues, particularly his stand on the implementation of the Narendran Commission report. Ever since the NSS adopted the equidistance policy, the senior leaders of the organisation have not been attending any of the Ministers' swearing-in ceremonies and used to depute one of its representatives. But for Mr. Muraleedharan's swearing-in ceremony, the NSS gave clear directions to its representatives in the capital not to attend the function. According to a NSS spokesman, the organisation leaders had made their position very clear to Mr. Muraleedharan himself when the latter had called to invite them for the function. The spokesman said that the NSS position had been conveyed to the Chief Minister as well.
