Sabarimala temple opened

PATHANAMTHITTA, FEB. 12. The Lord Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala opened this afternoon for the five-day monthly poojas in the Malayalam month of Kumbhom.

The poojas will begin with the Ganapathi homam followed by Usha pooja tomorrow morning. A `kalabhabhishekom' would be performed on the Ayyappa idol prior to the Utcha pooja tomorrow. The auspicious Padi pooja and Udayasthamana poojas will be held on all the five days. A `laksharchana' and a `sahasra kalasam' will be offered to the presiding deity on February 17. The temple will be closed on February 17.
