A revival of DMK scheme, says PMK
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI,
FEB. 12.
The Pattali Makkal Katchi founder-leader, S. Ramadoss, today described `Namadhu Gramam' scheme announced in the budget as a revival of the `Namakku Naame' scheme of the previous Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Government.
In a statement, he said the budget was a mere account of revenue and expenditure and was not prepared with an orientation toward the development of the State.
Noting that it had left an uncovered deficit of close to Rs.600 crores, he wondered whether there was any guarantee that fresh taxes would not be imposed after the Lok Sabha election.
Dr. Ramadoss also wanted the DMK president, M. Karunanidhi, to initiate legal proceedings against the display of the `Two fingers' symbol, which resembled the `Two leaves' electoral symbol of the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, in government advertisements.
