5 killed in accidents

CHENNAI, FEB. 12. Five persons died in separate accidents on the outskirts of the city today. At Semmancherry near Thorapakkam, Ettiappan (52) died when an MTC bus hit his bullock-cart.

A pedestrian, Bhima Rao (35) of Anna Nagar at Ennore, was hit by a motorcycle near the Anna Nagar bus stop. He died on way to hospital. At Sivaram near Kandanchavadi, S.R. Mani (55) died when his moped collided with a van on Thiruvanmiyur-Perungudi Road.

At Pallikaranai, Neelakandan (19) of Vellalparinagar, was run over by a lorry while he was on his way to Velachery on a cycle. He died on way to the Government Royapettah Hospital. The lorry driver has been remanded to custody. In the afternoon, a motorcyclist was hit and run over by an unidentified vehicle on 200 Feet Road at Tambaram. He was identified as Kasi Rajan (20) of Anakaputhur.

Meanwhile, Jayakandan (32) of Royapuram, who fell from his motorcycle on Tuesday, succumbed to his injuries at the Government General Hospital today.
