By Our Staff Reporter

NIZAMABAD, FEB. 13. The district police has virtually taken over Nizamabad town since this afternoon on the eve of the Chief Minister, N.Chandrababu Naidu's visit on Saturday to attend the `Janda Panduga' programme here.

To avoid untoward incidents, the police have already gathered house-to-house family details and the number of persons staying in each house on the route of the `cycle yatra.' Officials noted the addresses and names of occupants of the houses and business establishments right from Nyalkal road to the RTC bus stand.

Police officers visited each house on this route and interacted with the local people and advised them against any suspicious movement.

They requested people to pass information about suspicious people to the police immediately and sought the cooperation of the people during the tour of the Chief Minister.

The visit assumes significance as this is the first programme the Chief Minister is participating in the North Telangana districts.

]The town has been completely fortified with the Superintendent of Police, N. Madhusudhan Reddy, personally visiting the entire route of the `cycle yatra' along with the district Collector, D.V.Raidu, today. The two senior officials accompanied by the officers of the municipality, Roads & Buildings Department and AP TRANSCO, covered a distance of 2.80 km on foot.

The officials also toured Nyalkal road, Nehru chowk, Gandhi chowk, Khaleelwadi grounds, Railway station junction and the Collectorate where a public meeting is scheduled to be addressed by the Chief Minister. Briefing newsmen at the Pragati Bhavan conference hall on Friday afternoon after reviewing the arrangements for the Chief Minister's tour, the SP and the Collector expressed satisfaction at the security bandobust.

The Collector said all the officers of the important departments such as the Municipality, R&B and APTRANSCO have been issued the necessary instructions to be followed for the hassle-free visit of the Chief Minister. The SP said that over 800 police personnel, one Additional SP, four DSPs, 16 Circle Inspectors and 50 Sub Inspectors and 300 Home Guards have been drafted for the security of the Chief Minister. The police has cordoned off the entire route of the `cycle yatra' and sanitised it.

Bomb disposal squads, mine sweepers and other security gadgets have been brought here for the security.

The SP said that almost every second house would have a rooftop sentry.

The police does not want to take any chance, the SP said adding that foolproof arrangements are in place. Mr. Madhusudan Reddy said that there could be some inconvenience for people coming towards Nizamabad from Armoor, Bodhan and Hyderabad.

The police have already announced traffic restrictions, which would come into force from Saturday morning. All vehicles coming towards Nizamabad town from Dichpalli side would be diverted via Manikbhandar and Kanteswar. Vehicles coming from Bodhan would be routed via Jannepalli. Vehicles bound for Bodhan would be diverted via Manikbhandar, Dasnagar, Nandipet, Jannepalli and Navipet.

The police has decided to seal the main roads leading to Nyalkal cross roads from Bodhan, Varni and Dichpalli.

Meanwhile, the TDP cadres have already painted the town yellow, with almost the entire route of the Chief Minister's cycle yatra being has been spruced up.
