NCBE to join February 24 stir

KOCHI, FEB. 13. The National Confederation of Bank Employees (NCBE) has decided to join the nation-wide strike to be held on February 24 demanding protection of the right of workers to strike.

V.G. Sidhardhan, general secretary of the Confederation, said the general council of the State unit of the confederation to be held in Ernakulam on February 15 will discuss various issues in the banking sector, including the Supreme Court verdict on right to strike.

He said selective privatisation of public sector had resulted in privatisation of profits and nationalisation of losses thereby weakening the ability of the State to intervene in the economy.
