India to host World Bamboo Congress

CHENNAI: The VII World Bamboo Congress will be held in New Delhi from February 27 to March 4. This was formally announced by the Union Minister for Textiles, Shahnawaz Hussain. There will also be a Bamboo Expo at Pragati Maidan from February 28 to March 2 with an expected 6,000 foreign visitors from 50 countries, says a release. According to Mr. Hussain the event would project India as a bamboo destination with emphasis on employment generation, eradication of poverty and social upliftment.
