Hindu Munnani, Sena activists protest Valentine's Day fete

PONDICHERRY, FEB. 13. The Pondicherry units of the Hindu Munnani and the Shiva Sena today expressed protest against the holding of Valentine's Day celebrations here tomorrow.

In separate statements the president of the Munnani, V. Selvam and the General Secretary of the Sena, V.Rajasekaran, alleged that in the name of the celebration the modesty of women would be outraged and the youth would also go astray to the detriment of the cultural heritage of the country and respect for women.

Mr. Rajasekaran said that holding of special programmes on the premises of the Star Hotels in the town would also offer opportunity for the youth to suffer setback in their mindset. He said that Valentine's Day concept itself was an imported culture.
