Omar asks Hurriyat not to continue talks

By Shujaat Bhukari

SRINAGAR, FEB. 13. The National Conference president, Omar Abdullah, today asked the Ansari faction of the Hurriyat Conference to desist from a dialogue with New Delhi over Kashmir, unless the Bandipora killings were thoroughly investigated and the guilty punished.

In a statement, he said there should be no dialogue with New Delhi unless it proved its sincerity by ensuring that such incidents did not recur and the dignity, self-respect and human rights of the people of the State were protected.

The National Conference president said the killings needed to be approached in an apolitical manner, regardless of party affiliations and ideologies.
