Landmine blast injures 14 in Orissa

BHUBANESWAR,
FEB. 13.
Fourteen persons, including an Indian Administrative Service probationer, were injured when a landmine laid by the People's War went off near Dhandabadi village in Koraput district of Orissa this afternoon.
The blast occurred around 1 p.m. when a bomb disposal squad was defusing the mine, laid at least a week ago, on the Narayanpatna-Bandhugaon Road, police said.
Besides, the IAS probationer, who is the Block Development Officer in-charge of Narayanpatna Block, S.N. Girish, the others injured were seven CRPF personnel, six policemen and a member of the public. All of them have been admitted to the district hospital in Koraput.
The Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, visited Koraput in the afternoon and reviewed the situation. He also visited the injured in the hospital.
