HYDERABAD, FEB. 13. A senior leader of the Telugu Desam Party in Rangareddy district, K. Kishanji, was shot dead by suspected People's War men today when he went to his native village, Rayapolu, to mobilise people for the party's `flag festival' at Ibrahimpatnam, 40 km from here. Kishanji was talking on the phone when four persons barged into his house. He pleaded with them not to kill him, but the naxals drove away the villagers present in the house and fired three rounds at close range. Kishanji died on the spot. The naxals, believed to be of Rachakonda dalam, left a letter condemning `fake elections.' They raised slogans against `fake encounters' and walked way saying those working for the TDP and the Bharatiya Janata Party would meet the same fate. Fifty-year-old Kishanji was one of the directors of the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) and the official spokesperson for the TDP's Ranga Reddy district unit.
