Vijayawada
By Our Staff Reporter
VIJAYAWADA, FEB. 13. Taj Mahal would not have seen the day, had Shah Jahan not had the creative urge to express his love for Mumtaz. For the city's cupid-struck youngsters, expressing their love seems to be no big deal like constructing the Taj. All that they do is hunt for some catchy greeting cards and stump their beloved with them! On the eve of Valentine's Day, youngsters in the city are busy scouting for greetings cards, gifts and bouquets to present it to their `prince charming' or `lady love'. Well! The cards say it all if one may look at them. As one card at the Abhay's Bandhan Gifts and Stationery Stores, MG Road reads, `Kiss me and embrace me tightly. I wish I could show you the depth of my feelings so warm and so true. Stand before my eyes and let your glance touch my emotions into the full'. The card also has a neatly carved red coloured love symbol (the heart and the arrow) embedded in it. "It is not only the cards, but youngsters come to us for buying hand bags, wallets, watches, phone pouches and Parker pens to gift it to their Valentine," says J. B. Raj, managing partner of Bandhan. It may not be a no-holds-barred expression of love for the dames and dudes in this predominantly conservative city. Yet, quite a good number of youngsters troop in to our food joints to share the `sweet nothings', says Babji, a senior employee of Sweet Magic, a prominent chain of restaurants in the city. At the Quality Inn DV Manor, arrangements have been made to entertain 100 couples to an evening of sumptuous `Yeh dil maange more' stuff of items, says Rajesh Berry, General Manager of the hotel. According to Mr. Berry, the hotel is offering a special `Valentine's Day buffet' for Rs. 450 per couple.
