MARUTERU (W. GODAVARI DT.), FEB. 13. The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Friday likened his party's symbol -- cycle -- to a `juggernaut'. Addressing an impressive gathering here after cycling for a km to the meeting venue, Mr. Naidu accused the opposition parties, particularly the Congress, of creating hurdles for his `cycle'. "I am into the fifth day riding the cycle as part of the flag festival. Its speed is increasing day by day and no force can stop it because of the massive support from women and youth," he asserted. Indulging in Sonia-bashing, Mr. Naidu said that making an Italian the Prime Minister of the country was against the spirit of Independence, the cause of country's freedom for which a galaxy of freedom fighters had laid down their lives, and the self-respect of Indians at large. Stating that he had no desire to occupy the Prime Minister's `gaddi', Mr. Naidu said he would confine himself to the State until there was eradication of poverty and achievement of women empowerment. Claiming that he had never earned even a single rupee for himself since he took over as the Chief Minister in 1996, he urged the people counter the `mud-slinging' campaign being launched against him by the Congress.
