D-zone varsity fete begins

THRISSUR, FEB. 13. The D-zone youth festival of the University of Calicut began at the Government College, Kuttanallur, on Friday.

The three-day festival was inaugurated by the writer, Kavita Balakrishnan. Mohanan of the Government College presided over the function. P. V. Vijesh, councillor, university union, and E. S. Vineetha, general secretary, spoke.

About 700 students participated in various events. The following are the winners of some of the competitions (in the order of first, second and third prizes) — Watercolour: P. Seena, Government College of Fine Arts, Thrissur; P. Saju, Government College of Fine Arts, and Jibin T. Somachandran, Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur; M. V. Vineeth, Government Engineering College, Thrissur;

Embroidery: Snisha, Sree Narayana College, Nattika; Merlin Joseph, Sree Vyasa NSS College, Wadakkancheri; K. M. Mumcy, Kerala Varma College, Thrissur;

Quiz: P. N. Ayana, Sree Achutha Menon Memorial Government College, Kuttanallur; Nitin Sudhakaran, Christ College, Irinjalakuda; Sanitha Sathyan, Medical College, Thrissur.
