POTA charges against 29 dropped

MUMBAI, FEB. 13. In a significant development, the Maharashtra Government has dropped POTA charges against 29 people, the Home Minister, R. R. Patil, said here today.

The decision has been taken following the recommendation of the high-level (POTA) Review Committee, set up to look into the cases filed under the act.

They were involved in two cases, one of which was communal riots in Solapur, Mr. Patil said.The committee comprises of the Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Secretary of the Law and Judiciary Department, Director General of Police and the Commissioner of Police.
