HYDERABAD, FEB. 13. A nine-year-old boy, Satish Kumar, who was playing near his house at Kakatiyanagar in Langerhouz area, was kidnapped by two motorcycle-borne persons last evening. The kidnappers later demanded Rs. 2 crores ransom last evening. Despite a hunt launched by the police, no clues were available till late on Friday night. Satish's father, B.V. Murthy, owns a small scale leather garment-manufacturing unit. After taking away the boy, the abductors called on the landline residential phone late on Thursday and demanded Rs. 2 crores ransom. ``The accused spoke in Urdu with a slight North Indian accent. We're making all out efforts to rescue the boy,'' the Asifnagar ACP, V. Mahender Reddy, said. Satish's parents plunged into depression as they could not afford to pay the ransom demanded by the kidnappers. Mr. Murthy and his wife went to a temple last evening leaving their 11-year-old daughter and son, Satish, at home. On their return, they found the boy missing. They learnt about the kidnap when a kid of the same locality told them that ``Satish was taken away on a bike by two persons.'' On Friday, around 3.30 p.m., the kidnappers allowed Satish to talk to his mother over telephone and stuck to their demand.
