HYDERABAD, FEB. 13. Task Force officials of the Hyderabad police on Friday busted a spurious pain balm-manufacturing racket with the arrest of four persons. Thirty-five cartons of Zandu Balm, nine cartons of Nova Vaseline and one carton of Ujala whitener liquid, all spurious, were seized from the arrested, the Task Force Deputy Commissioner of Police, Y. Gangadhar, told a press conference here. The arrested were, Mukesh Kumar Jain, Syam Sunder Thaak, Ashok and Jayasimha. A native of Rajasthan, Mukesh, on suffering huge losses in business, came to Hyderabad in search of livelihood. He joined hands with Syam, who had allegedly arranged for money to manufacture spurious Zandu Balm. Syam also reportedly engaged a godown to store and distribute the spurious product. An autorickshaw driver, Ashok, allegedly used to market the spurious balm, besides getting packaging covers printed at the press owned by Jayasimha at Vidya Nagar. The Task Force team raided the godown on a tip-off from the management of Zandu Balm Pharmaceuticals.
