BANGALORE, JAN. 13. "Wear the old coat and buy the new book", is how the city's newest bookstore, Crossword, beckons you. Inaugurated on Friday by well-known cartoonist, Mario Miranda, it is spread over 18,000 sq.ft. over two floors. Its spacious and attractive interiors are set to redefine the experience of reading in a bookstore in the city, says R. Sriram, Crossword CEO. The bookstore is not only about books. It stocks music cassettes, CDs, DVDs, toys, and gifts. There is even a café Café Coffee Day has an outlet each on both floors that allows you to read over a cup of cappuccino. The store here is the 17th branch, with 16 others in Pune, Ahmedabad, Baroda, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad. Crossword was set up for India Book House by Mr. Sriram and K. Anita in 1992. It is now promoted by Shoppers' Stop Ltd. and ICICI Venture. The store is set to open two more branches at Kolkata, and Mumbai respectively. Mario Miranda drew a mural to mark the inauguration. Madhuri Bhattacharya, Kannada film actress, Girish Karnad, Ponnappa, and Anita Nair were present at the launch.
