BANGALORE, FEB. 13. The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) has renamed Infantry Road as Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Road. The Jain Association International submitted a proposal to the State Government and the BMP in 2001 to rename the road after the 24th Tirthankara of Jains to mark his 2,600th birth anniversary that year. The BMP approved the proposal on February 4 after the Government gave its approval. The association chairman, Uttamchand Mutha, and the secretary-general, Dharmesh Kataria, have thanked the Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, and the BMP authorities for approving its proposal.
