Washington: The Democratic presidential front-runner, John Kerry, has emphatically denied that he had had an extramarital affair. The Massachusetts Senator was asked about reports in the Internet set off by a well-known gossip columnist, Matt Drudge. "I just deny it categorically. It is a rumour. It is untrue. Period", Mr. Kerry is said to have remarked to reporters during campaigning in Wisconsin. After denying the report, Mr. Kerry is said to have added: "And that's the last time I intend to". On Friday morning, Mr. Kerry told a talk show host, "Well, there is nothing to report. So there is nothing to talk about. I am not worried about it. No". According to Mr. Drudge who first broke the story about the Monica Lewinsky scandal involving the former President, Bill Clinton Mr. Kerry had had a two-year relationship with a young woman starting in early 2001. The allegation was also that several media outlets were examining the story and that the unnamed woman `fled' to Africa at the prodding of Mr. Kerry when approached by a top news producer. The Massachusetts politician is going about with a business-as-usual attitude, picking up the key endorsement of the retired General Wesley Clark and looking for ways to boost his campaign coffers.
