KOCHI, FEB. 14. The Kerala State Small Industries Association (KSSIA) has stressed the need for setting up a permanent centre for industrial exhibitions in the State. The association president, Xavier Thomas Kondody, told mediapersons here today that similar centres were functioning in industrially-advanced States like Tamil Nadu. He demanded that the Government set up a task force headed by the Chief Minister to revive sick industries and to give a fresh impetus to the industrial sector. Mr. Kondody said that 310 smallscale industries would participate in the `Business to Business' meeting scheduled to be held here from February 19 to 21. The meet would showcase success stories in the smallscale sector. The State could boast of an industrial growth in sectors related to coir, handicrafts, handloom, rubber, Ayurveda, etc.. While the Kerala manufacturers would participate as sellers in the `B to B' meet, people from abroad would take part in the meet as prospective buyers. There would be representatives from the Netherlands, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Bulgaria, Korea, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and France. The meet would be a turning point in the history of industries in Kerala, he said. The opening day would be celebrated as SSI Day, he said. Mr. Kondody lauded the Government's efforts in promoting the cluster system for small industries with aid from UNIDO. The textile cluster in Kannur, plywood cluster in Perumbavoor, rubber cluster in Changanasserry and coir clusters in Alappuzha were functioning well, he said. The State had become a trendsetter in the functioning of the Industry
