KOLLAM, FEB. 14. The Kerala Pradesh Ex-Servicemen Congress (KPESC) has protested against the non-implementation of the pension parity for ex-servicemen below officer rank who had retired before January 1, 1996. At a press conference here today, the KPESC chairman, N. Baburajan, said that on implementing the Fifth Pay Commission Report calling for parity in pension of ex-servicemen, those who retired before January 1996 were neglected. He said that following this, a submission was made before the former President of India, K.R. Narayanan, who issued a special order dated February 9, 2001 calling for parity in pension to the ex-servicemen in question. However, that order is yet to be implemented, he said. The KPESC secretary, M.A. Majeed, wanted the authorities concerned to seriously view the issue and do the needful.
