GWALIOR, FEB. 14. The lesser-league cueists made a splash with just one day of league matches remaining in the 70th National snooker championship at the Jiwaji University here on Saturday. Junior international Sourav Kothari, pro Manan Chandra and former champions Ashok Shandilya, Shyam Jagtiani and B.V.S. Murthy were all hanging on to a thin thread for qualification. Junior Sumit Talwar, billiards specialist Mohammed Asim, Neeraj Kumar, Jaswinder Singh and John Bosco came up with some shocking results to leave the bility some unfamiliar names would be added to the pre-quarterfinal draw.
Former junior No. 4 Neeraj Kumar started the upheaval beating Shandilya. The 24-year-old Neeraj then went on the binge by winning his next two league matches in Group H.
