Temperature

Tiruchi Feb.14. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 32.9 degree Celsius and a minimum of 20.5 degree Celsius.

Power cut

There will be no power supply in the following areas from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on February 17 owing to maintenance work in the Manapparai sub-station, according to a TNEB press release: Manapparai town, Sevalur, Podangupatti, Poigaipatti, Vaiyampatti, Nadupatti, Ilangakurichi, Balaviduthi, Karungulam, Azadroad, Tuvarankurichi, Puthanatham, Marungapuri, Pannankombu, Iluppur, Maravanur, Veerappur, Kottapatti, Mettupatti and Palakurichi.

Train timing

The train No. 715 Thanjavur-Tirunelveli passenger will arrive at Tiruchi Junction at 1-40 p.m. and will leave at 2 p.m., instead of 1.55 p.m. with effect from February 15, according to a Southern Railway release issued here today.

Mettur level

The level in the Mettur reservoir stood at 30.97 feet today. The inflow was 220 cusecs and discharge nil.

Couple found dead

A man and his wife were found dead at their house in the Ariyamangalam area of the city late last night.

The police said Seelan (58) and his wife, Vijayarani (52) of Pungalayee Ammankoil Street, Ariyamangalam, were found dead by their son, Yoganand, when he returned home from work late last night. The couple is suspected to have consumed food mixed with poison, driven by continued penury.

The bodies were removed to the Tiruchi Government Hospital for postmortem examination. The Ariyamangalam police were investigating.
