Vasundhara's priority to develop roads, water facilities

By Our Staff Correspondent

JAIPUR, FEB. 14. The Rajasthan Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje, today said her Government's priority areas in the coming months would be the roads, drinking water, education and tourism with the stress on the development of their infrastructure. She assured that a network of good quality roads would be evolved to connect important towns and rural areas in the State.

Ms. Raje made the observation during a presentation on the development of infrastructure made by the Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Limited in the State Secretariat here. The presentation laid emphasis on the public and private participation for the State's overall development.

Taking note of the suggestions made for various sectors and for financial reconstruction, Ms. Raje said the formulation of long-term action plans would serve the purpose. As regards the drinking water problem, she stressed the need for adopting scientific measures to utilise the water stored in watershed structures and supplied through the open canal system.

Ms. Raje said the fluoride contamination of water in two-third area of the State also called for corrective measures. For the tourism sector, the Chief Minister was in favour of identifying the scope for rural tourism in addition to the maintenance of heritage buildings and monuments and better connectivity of the places of tourist interest.

The proposed conversion of Sanganer airport, near here, into an international airport would make a significant contribution to the development of tourism and industrial sectors in Rajasthan, Ms. Raje pointed out.
