NEW DELHI, FEB. 14. For the Railway Reservation Centre at Rohini and residents of this sub-city in North-West Delhi, it seems to be an unending wait. Ready since October, the Railway Reservation Centre, which is expected to cater to the needs of residents of Rohini, Pitampura, Shalimar Bagh and adjoining areas, has not been made operational because the Railways Minister, Nitish Kumar, is unable to spare time to inaugurate it. The local Councillor, Vijender Kumar, complained that he has made all possible attempts to make the Railway Reservation Centre functional for which residents of the area were waiting eagerly. "Railway officials insist that reservation could be done here only after it is inaugurated by Mr. Nitish Kumar and they would not allow any other Minister or politician to do the job,'' he alleged. "Daily a large number of people return disappointed from this place. Even the staff has been deputed here. But I fail to understand why they are not booking rail tickets?'' asked a disappointed Mr. Kumar, who has been running from pillar to post for the past few months. The Councillor, who has been pursuing the project for the past few years, said there was provision for seven counters, five of which were now ready for the booking of tickets. The space for this centre was provided by the MCD at a nominal rate of Rs. 1, after the Railways refused to open the reservation centre arguing that it did not own any land in Rohini.
