CHENNAI, FEB. 14. The annual music festival of Hamsadhwani, a city-based music sabha, will be inaugurated on February 18 at Youth Hostel, Adyar. The 70-day-long festival will be presided over by the Electricity Minister, D. Jayakumar. Senior and up and coming artistes will present recitals every day till April 25. Besides music concerts, the festival will feature Tamil plays. Plays, such as `Nallathor Veenai Seithe' by Bombay Gnanam's all women troupe and Marina's `Sweekaram' will be staged on April 13 and 14. The inaugural show will have a dance performance, titled `Siva: Cosmic Dance,' by Gopika Varma, a Mohiniattam dancer. The festival, to be inaugurated by the president of the Shanmugananda Sabha (Mumbai), V. Shankar, will conclude with Sulochana Pattabhiraman's concert of compositions of the Trinity in Carnatic music on April 25.
