Weather

The maximum temperature recorded at the Gannavaram airport on Saturday was 31.3 degree Celsius and the minimum was 18.1 degree Celsius.

Humidity which was 86 per cent in the morning dropped to 40 per cent by evening.

Commodity prices

Following are the prevailing per kilogram prices of various essential commodities in the city on Saturday, according to the Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce and Industry: Groundnut oil (Rs. 54.50), Palmolein oil (Rs. 46.25), Sunflower oil (Rs. 52.50), tamarind-flower variety (Rs. 25 to Rs. 28), tamarind-karipulli variety (Rs. 34 to Rs. 38), chillies (Rs. 25 to Rs. 35), rice 2716 (Rs. 11 to Rs. 11.50), rice-super fine (Rs. 13 to Rs. 13.50), rice-samba masuri (Rs. 13.50 to Rs. 14), black gram-pottu minappappu (Rs. 21), red gram-kandi pappu (Rs. 25).

ICFAI exam

The examinations for all the programmes offered by the ICFAI University on Distance Learning mode will be held on April 3, 4, 10 and 11 at 60 centres across the country.

The last date for submission of Examination Registration Forms (ERF) is March 6 without late fee and March 13 with a late fee of Rs. 200. Eligible students can submit their ERF online and pay the examination fee by credit card through secured Internet payment gateway or they can submit their forms at the ICFAI study centres.

Free health camp

The Vasavya Nursing Home conducted a free health camp for diabetes patients at its premises on Saturday.

Tributes paid

Rich tributes were paid to former Chief Minister and AICC president, Damodaram Sanjivaiah, on the occasion of his 83rd birth anniversary on Saturday.

Congress leaders and office-bearers of the city Congress committee S. Muralikrishna and others garlanded the portrait of Damodaram Sanjivaiah at the Andhra Ratna Bhavan here.

Valentine's Day celebrated

Valentine's Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at the Venus Collections at Besant Road on Saturday.

Several youth from different parts of the city participated in the celebrations for which the Venus Collections made special arrangements.
