By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI,
FEB. 14.
Thirtythree college students, belonging to economically weaker sections, were given scholarships of Rs. 1,000 each at a function organised by the M. Bhakthavatsalam Centenary Celebrations Committee Trust on the occasion of the former Chief Minister's death anniversary on Friday.
Giving away the scholarships, the former Education Secretary, C.G. Rangabashyam, said Bhakthavatsalam was the best Chief Minister the State had and he was an efficient administrator. He was a role model for students. He appealed to the trust to publish a short biography of the former Chief Minister.
The trust secretary, Sarojini Varadappan, said the trust was started 10 years ago and was giving away scholarships to school and college students every year.
